New Highfields estate Wirraglen, is now under construction and it’s not your typical subdivision project.

Experienced developers, Hallmark Property, have today officially welcomed to site their civil construction contractors, Hutchinson Builders. The occasion was marked with an informal sod turning ceremony at the Kleinton Road property.

The journey to bring a project of this scale to the market is long and milestones such as this are keenly celebrated by the project team.  Wirraglen Project Director, Mr Tim Colthup said “After more than two years of planning and obtaining approvals, it’s a fantastic day when you finally see equipment arrive to site. We are witnessing the breaking of new ground ’both figuratively and literally”.

The initial Wirraglen precinct, comprising 147 lots will be fully constructed as one large project. “Our vision is to deliver upfront, a fully constructed residential area, rather than completing it on a stage-by-stage basis”, said Hallmark Property CEO, Mr Ian Knox. “Whilst this is a massive undertaking for any developer, we believe it will add real value to our Wirraglen residents” he said. “This will allow earlier, consistent maturity of extensive landscaping including our street trees and diminish long term noise and dust issues, typically associated with traditional staged developments”, said Mr Knox.

“Delivering 147 lots in one go is something that the bigger players like your Stockland or Lend Lease might do. It’s definitely a first for this region” said Matt Dawson, Hutchinson Builders Civil Team Leader. “Our team is really excited to be involved in this project”, he said.

Although the full estate will be constructed up front, lots will be made available to the market in planned releases to meet demand. The developer is currently accepting Expressions of Interest to purchase select lots.

The project sits on a 17Ha parcel of land just to the north of the town centre as designated under Council’s Central Highfields Master Plan, with access from Kleinton Road.

This prime parcel of land is within walking distance to all amenities including the Highfields State Secondary College and nearby sporting precinct, with easy access to the New England Highway. The average lot size for the development is 740m2, with some lots exceeding 1,000m2.
